Wonder Woman Gal Gadot Image Debuts At SDCC 2014
The Wonder Woman Gal Gadot image has finally hit the web after months of Ben Affleck Batman teases, and we’ve got to admit, it looks pretty solid.
There has been a lot of criticism circling around director Zack Snyder’s film Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice (and much of it well-deserved since Snyder has never seen a use of CGI he didn’t think was phantasmagoriculous, and yes, we just made up that word).
Here, though, he maintains the sexiness factor that fanboys demand in their Wonder Woman while attempting to make the outfit at least a little credible for combat.
What you see above is the gist of the image, but here’s the whole thing, which debuted at, where else, San Diego Comic-Con this weekend.
Hat tip to SuperheroReport for getting it out on the web so quickly:
Okay, so maybe it’s not that credible. I don’t know, ladies, would you ever consider defending the world from a super villain wearing knee-high leather boots and a strapless one-piece?
(You don’t have to answer that.)
Aside from the Zack Snyder criticisms, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman has been the subject of much scrutiny since it was announced that she would be handling the role in December 2013.
Many film pundits believe her to be “too skinny” for the part, preferring an actual dark-haired fighter-type like Gina Carano instead.
Of course, many of these same folks were decrying Ben Affleck as Batman until they caught a glimpse of him in costume, and now he’s slowly building support.
One particularly harsh critic of the Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman casting decision was John Campea of AMC Movie Talk(video above):
This is terrible. Terrible casting. Just awful. For several reasons. I don’t want a 95-pound Wonder Woman. Gal is a beautiful woman, absolutely. That’s great. She’s got the exotic look you want for a Wonder Woman, all that kind of stuff. But I don’t care what kind of incarnation you look at for Wonder Woman, whether it’s the comic books, the animation, or whatever, Wonder Woman ain’t 95 pounds…. The other reason I have a problem with this, is, in ‘Fast and the Furious,’ she has been acceptable for the role she was playing. But I’ve never looked at her as an actress and thought, this actress can not only play in a small side role, but this actress, on her own shoulders, could carry a franchise. And you know DC and Warner Brothers aren’t planning to use Wonder Woman as a little side character in ‘Man of Steel 2’ and never use her again. Plus, she struggles with the English language a little bit.”
Fair enough. What do you all think of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman? Great look, or complete miscast?
