Kaley Cuoco’s New ‘Ape’ Movie: Watch The Faux Trailer Revealed At Comic-Con And Read Other ‘Big Bang Theory’ Spoilers
Kaley Cuoco and her Big Bang Theory castmates are still in contract negotiations — but the script writers who provide the show’s storylines were meeting fans today at Comic-Con in San Diego. The panel offered up some sneak peeks into Season 8 and a famed guest star in a monkey suit.
As a treat for the fans, the writers debuted a “trailer” for Penny’s new ape movie. Actor Wil Wheaton — a sometime Big Bang Theory guest star and Penny’s co-star in Serial Ape-ist 2 — made a surprise live appearance at the panel in full ape costume. Watch the “trailer” for the horror flick below:
Fans of Kaley Cuoco will notice her long hair in this clip, perhaps giving some insight as to how producers will handle the star’s new pixie cut. She may indeed get a wig to keep Penny’s old look — or the script writers could merely explain away the discrepancy by saying the movie was filmed before she met up with a pair of barber scissors.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the writing team remained “spoiler-free” throughout the session, since entire seasons of the show are not usually mapped out. The panel did confirm the perpetually-broken elevator will never get fixed, there is “no rush” for Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki’s Penny and Leonard to get married, and that there will be a comic store in the future. The setting for many of the show’s scenes was subject to an untimely death by fire in Season 7.
Stuart will move in with Mrs. Wolowitz, and as for Howard and Bernadette — there are no babies as yet in the offing. Melissa Rauch, who plays Bernadette, and Mayim Bialik, who plays Amy, are the only two members of the main cast with signed contracts. Kaley Cuoco and the other main actors do not yet have deals.
There is an interesting story line planned for Cuoco, however, where Penny decides to quit acting and join Bernadette’s pharmaceutical company, as THR reported on Wednesday.
One real-life spoiler at Comic-Con: James Earl Jones and Carrie Fisher, the voice of Darth Vader and the actor behind Princess Leia, met on the set of the Big Bang Theory — and they had never met before. Carrie reportedly greeted James by exclaiming, “Dad!”
TV reports that Eric Kaplan told the crowd at Comic-Con he was actually not a big fan of the Star Wars franchise, while discussing the Star Wars episode. Panel moderator Craig Ferguson apparently jumped in to say there was a mob forming in response to the statement.
While contract negotiations continue, Kaley Cuoco is continuing to enjoy her summer, rescuing a puppy and throwing a surprise birthday party for her husband, Ryan Sweeting.
