Harrison Ford Seen Using Crutches As He Recovers From Broken Leg
Harrison Ford, who is reprising his iconic role as Han Solo in Star Wars Episode VII, continues to recover from surgery after suffering a freak accident on the set of the production. The 72-year-old actor was seen having a difficult time getting in and out of a plane while using arm-less crutches.
Ford was spotted awkwardly using an iWalk aid, and at times having a very hard time trying to climb the steps of a plane at Santa Barbara Airport in California. Leaving the hotel seemed a little better as he relied on the hands free contraption, which he uses by bending his knee over it.

Disney announced earlier this month that production for Star Wars Episode VII would break for two weeks in August, while Harrison Ford recovers from injuries he suffered when a hydraulic door from his character’s aircraft, the Millennium Falcon, fell on his leg. After paramedics came to Pinewood Studios to attend the original cast member, he was taken to the hospital and later had surgery.
In early July, Ford’s personal trainer, Jake Steinfield, told TMZ that the veteran actor was on the mend:
“He’s getting in shape now. He’s feeling great and he’s rehabbing it.”
“He and I have been friends for a long time, over 30 years, and he is in great shape. He is going to get back even better than he was, and I’ve been monitoring it with him. He’s feeling great and is in great spirits.”
“He’s 70 going on 27.”
Harrison Ford is known for doing as many stunts as movie studios would allow him to and in a recent interview, following the freak accident the star joked, calling himself “old battered Ford.”
“I keep on coming back for more. If it doesn’t look real on the screen then an audience does not believe what it sees,” he explained.
Star Wars Episode VII is directed by J.J. Abrams and also brings back Harrison Ford’s original co-stars Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Anthony Daniels (C3PO), and Kenny Baker (R2 D2). New cast members include Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, and Max von Sydow.
