Zoe Saldana Is Pregnant, Expecting First Child With Husband Marco Perego

Zoe Saldana is heading into quite possibly her biggest role yet — motherhood! It’s reported that newlywed Zoe Saldana is expecting her first child with husband Marco Perego.

The happy couple hasn’t made an official announcement about the new bundle of joy, but odds are that’s because Saldana is at the very beginning of her pregnancy. According to US Weekly, a source close to the couple claimed that the Guardians of the Galaxy actress was “three months pregnant, but she will only announce the news when she’s ready.”

Sounds pretty reasonable for a newly expecting mom-to-be. An additional source told the magazine that Saldana and husband Perego are very excited about welcoming their baby. “Zoe has always wanted a big family, and Marco’s on board, too!”

It isn’t too surprising that Saldana is pregnant. Back in 2012 she admitted that at one point she had children in mind with her then ex-fiance Keith Britton. At the time, she spoke with Amanda de Cadenet about children for her segment on Lifetime’s The Conversation.

Speaking about her Latin lineage, Saldana had said, “At 22 you’re like, ‘I just wanna hold something!’ You want a little critter.”

“For years he wasn’t ready. Then when he got ready, I didn’t have time. I never held anything off because I was waiting for something to kick in. I don’t think that far about tomorrow.”

Saldana continued:

“I felt the urge to want to have a baby, and I wanted to, but I remember that respecting his decision — and making the decision to wait with him — was one of the most mature things. I chose to wait and I’m glad I did. I’m glad that I respected him.”

These days not only is Zoe Saldana fulfilling her needs to create a family of her own, but she’s also hot on the press trail. Currently she’s promoting the action film Guardians of the Galaxy, which hits theaters on August 1.

Earlier in the month Saldana spoke with Marie Claire about her past relationships and what she’s learned by being disrespected by one of her exes.

“If you’re not happy with a person, leave. And wait until you find that one person who makes you feel good about yourself every single day and is not expecting you to change, but to grow.”

Saldana and Perego wed in June of 2013 in London after a few short months of dating.
