Lucy Lawless Is Joining ‘Marvel’s Agents of Shield’

Looks like Lucy Lawless is set to make a big comeback on the television screen. The actress, who rose to cult status as Xena in the 90s show Xena: Warrior Princess will be featured on the ABC Marvel show Agents of SHIELD.

According to TV Guide although she will be joining she show it is not yet known what her role will be and for how long Lawless will be on the show. The show as a whole was on the bubble of being cancelled but at the last minute ABC decided to give the Marvel show, which stars Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, a second season.

The Xena: Warrior Princess star has been after a comeback for some time now. Lawless has played a recurring role on Parks and Recreation for the last two years now. The actress played Diane Lewis, a woman who reported a pothole in front of her house. She dated Ron on the show for a bit of time.

Additionally, she also enjoyed another two year stint on Spartacus: War of the Damned as Lucretia,a bisexual widow of gladiator school owner Quintus Batiatus. During her time on the show Lawless played the romantic interest of Crixus, who was the former champion of Capua.

Although we haven’t heard much from Lawless, when her Spartacus co-star Andy Whitfield died of cancer in 2011, she did release a very touching statement via Entertainment Weekly.

“Obviously, Andy Whitfield left an indelible mark on all of us in the Spartacus family. He was a gentle man who never said a bad word about anyone, a gifted photographer, engineer (no really!) and a brilliant actor. Andy’s incandescent film presence made men want to be him and women want to marry him. Andy’s two babies will always know that their Daddy cherished them and their mother, Vashti, above all things. How lucky we were to have him grace all our lives. Godspeed, Andy!”

As for her exciting new role on Agents of SHIELD, it looks like many fans are looking forward to seeing Lawless once again on the small screen.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD premieres September 23 on ABC
