Is Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting Considering Leaving ‘The Big Bang Theory’ For A Movie Career?

Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting really wants you to know that she can score work outside of The Big Bang Theory universe.

As The Inquisitr previously reported, Cuoco-Sweeting’s future on the popular CBS show is currently in limbo. She, Johnny Galecki, and Jim Parsons haven’t finalized their contracts yet because they’re holding out for the big bucks. The stars are asking for $1 million per episode, as well as a larger portion of the syndication profits.

If they don’t get their way and decide to walk, there’s no way that The Big Bang Theory will survive. Fans want to see what a Penny and Leonard wedding will look like, and they want to know what will become of Sheldon after he returns from his train trip of self-discovery.

While Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting waits to see if she’ll score the huge sum of money that she’s asking for, she’s keeping herself busy working on a movie titled Burning Bodhi. It’s interesting that Kaley keeps posting Instagram photos from the set of the film – is she trying to send Warner Bros. TV a message that she doesn’t need The Big Bang Theory?

On July 20, Cuoco-Sweeting Instagrammed about her new adventure in the world of indie movies, and it includes really bad makeup:

Ok I’m here. Hair/makeup test for #burningbodhi.. So fun playing someone so different. Im up for the challenge #nofilter

Since then, Kaley has posted three more photos documenting her time on the Burning Bodhi set. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is about a young man (Landon Liboiron) who returns to his hometown in New Mexico after the death of a high school friend. The movie also stars Cody Horn, who is pictured with Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting in this Instagram photo:

The other Burning Bodhi photos were taken from a set that appears to be a backyard and inside a cramped car:

Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting has started focusing more on her movie career recently. Authors Anonymous was released earlier this year, and The Wedding Ringer will hit theaters in January of next year. Kaley has a supporting role in the comedy starring Josh Gad and Kevin Hart.

Cuoco-Sweeting hasn’t had trouble finding work, but it could be hard to find another payday as big as The Big Bang Theory. She’s probably not getting paid a huge sum for Burning Bodhi, and she’s yet to score a lead role in a potential blockbuster.

Because Burning Bodhi is a low budget flick, it’s possible that Kaley’s Instagram posts have nothing to do with scaring Warner Bros. TV execs into thinking that she’s going to live Penny’s dream by running away and becoming a movie star — instead Cuoco-Sweeting might just be trying to promote a movie that wouldn’t be getting much attention without her name attached to it.

Unfortunately, The Big Bang Theory won’t be around forever, so Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting needs to start branching out. However, maybe she seriously needs to consider sticking to TV — as Jennifer Aniston has found out, being a beloved TV star doesn’t translate into being a beloved movie star. Aniston has done so-so in the world of cinema, but a small smattering of movie successes is a definitely a disappointment after being part of a sitcom that became a cultural phenomenon.

Do you think Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting is mulling over the idea of leaving The Big Bang Theory behind for a movie career? And if she does attempt to do this, do you think that she’ll succeed or end up in Serial Ape-ist-level Syfy Channel flicks?
