Ed Sheeran And Taylor Swift Fought Over Their Duet
Ed Sheeran has a lot of friends in high places, including Ellie Goulding, Pharrell Williams, and Taylor Swift. While some of his friendships have caused some rumors to stir up about Ed’s love life, some relationships cause him trouble without even being romantic. Sheeran recently revealed that he and Taylor quarreled a little over the duet they recorded not long ago.
According to MTV.com, Sheeran and Swift couldn’t agree on a particular chord change in the track “Everything Has Changed,” which appears on Taylor Swift’s latest album Red. Ed Sheeran explained to BBC radio host Zane Lowe on his MTV show Soundchain:
“She has a little Taylor guitar, she got it out and she’s like, ‘I had this idea for this song,’ … and she pretty much had the verse, bridge and chorus done, but we argued about that one chord — ‘I just want to know you, better know you’ — she didn’t like that, and I kind of forced it upon her.”
Apparently, Taylor even went so far as to point out to Ed Sheeran that she’s the one with tons of songwriting awards, so her choice of chord should be the one that made it into the final song.
“It was quite a funny situation,” Ed Sheeran said. “It’s like [her room is] surrounded by Grammys; she has like seven or eight and like Billboard Awards and Songwriting Guild,” he said, “And I’m like, ‘this chord,’ and she’s like [pointing to her awards].”
But according to the Huffington Post, Swift eventually gave in and Ed’s chord is what made it into “Everything Has Changed.” Normally Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran are pretty close friends. She’s given Ed several gifts in the past, including a piece of needle point craft and even an apple pie.
“I went to her house, she cooked an apple pie — she cooks really good s***,” Ed Sheeran said.
Hopefully, Ed and Taylor can keep the arguing to a minimum and continue to make music together. The final recording of “Everything Has Changed” did end up being pretty successful, peaking the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the number 32 spot. Ed Sheeran also joined Taylor Swift on her Red tour to perform the song with her live many times.
