Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting Is Just Like Penny From ‘Big Bang Theory’ In Real Life
Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting thinks that she and her Big Bang Theory alter ego have a lot in common.
According to the Belfast Telegraph, Kaley told the German edition of Cosmo that in many ways, she’s just like her character Penny on the show: “I never hold anything back – which can be a good and bad thing!” she said in the magazine. However, she was also quick to point out that her and Penny “do have differing opinions when it comes to fashion.”
Something Cuoco-Sweeting does not have a differing opinion on, however, is that her and her fellow The Big Bang Theory co-stars are entitled to a higher salary.
According to Deadline Hollywood:
“Under their previous contract, Galecki, Parsons and Cuoco earned around $350,000 an episode in Season 7, with each owning 0.25 point of the series’ lucrative backend. Given the enormous success on Big Bang, a blockbuster network and off-network hit which some estimate could generate up to $3 billion for Warner Bros TV, Galecki, Parsons and Cuoco could go into Friends territory with new salaries in the neighborhood of $1 million per episode, plus a bigger piece of the backend.”
The contract dispute is causing fear amongst the studios that a production delay could take effect if Kaley and her fellow castmates do not reach a settlement before July 30th when the number one comedy was expected to return to production. If that’s the case, it may be a long time before Cuoco-Sweeting plays the beloved role of Penny anytime soon.
That’s not to say Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting won’t be busy in the meantime. The 28-year-old is currently filming the rom-com The Wedding Ringer, which is due out in 2015. Written and directed by Jeremy Garelick, the film will also star Kevin Hart, Josh Gad and Olivia Thirlby. The story centers Kevin Hart’s best man service that helps grooms-to-be like Josh Gad, who seems to be short on close friends willing to stand up at the alter with them. Kaley plays the character Paige, who is friends with Olivia Thirlby’s character Alison.
Speaking of weddings, Kaley also commented to Cosmo on her super fast nuptials with tennis player Ryan Sweeting last December. Despite having been together for less than half a year, Cuoco shrugged off any kind of concern it may have raised. “I’ll admit it was fast,” she told Cosmo, “but that’s just the way I am.”
And that’s a statement Penny from The Big Bang Theory might very well say too.
