Selena Gomez Stuns At Italy’s Ischia Global Festival, New Tattoo Under Wraps

Selena Gomez stepped out at Italy’s 2014 Ishchia Global Film & Music Festival Wednesday, looking fantastic in an elegant dress ahead of the Friday premiere of the William H. Macy directed Rudderless, in which she stars.

The actress-singer is set to be presented with the Kids’ Global Award and is seen smiling in green-carpet snaps with the festival founder Pascal Vicedomini, looking tanned and every inch the young movie star on the rise.

Selena wore a blue L’Agence drawcord dress, and showed a decent amount of leg while also revealing a bra-less cleavage – though less dramatically than last week’s, pneumatic display in New York City.

The 21-year-old wore her brunette locks slicked back with low-key makeup for a minimal, modern look.

Not on show was the actress-singer’s new tattoo, which was inked by famed New York artist Kevin “Bang Bang” McCurdy.

Bang Bang told E! News Gomez’s new Arabic script art was inked “about a month ago” on the upper right side of her back, adding that “she had been wanting this one for a while.”

The inker revealed Selena’s tattoo’s “meaning translates to ‘Love Yourself,'” which has also been interpreted as “Love Yourself First.”

Fans and Jelena watchers will be aware Gomez’s latest not-quite-reunion with on-again, off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber appeared to crash and burn in the last weeks of June, while he spent time with model Yovanna Ventura and other females.

So, the timing of her “Love Yourself First” tattoo is telling and seems to be a continuation of the theme of many of her recent Instagrams.

However, despite Gomez’s intense social media emoting a source recently told E! that while it’s possible she and Bieber could be locked in a dating one-upmanship competition because they’re “kids” — Selena was recently seen draped over male model Tanz Watson, 26, in a New York City restaurant — they are also close friends.

The insider explained: “There will forever be an emotional connection for them, but they don’t have a title to their relationship. He is not her boyfriend, but the feelings are always going to be there.”

Then added that Gomez “is trying to move on with her life and focus on her.”

Selena also posted a close up of her new tattoo to her Instagram account, captioning it: “Art by @bangbangnyc –from my first to my last. It’s always this fool.”

Bang Bang also revealed the Disney alum “has about 5-6 tattoos now” and also has plans for more, although it’s unlikely Gomez will be challenging Bieber’s ink count any time soon.

“Love Yourself First,” we like it.
