Kate Winslet, Rachel Weisz, Emma Thompson Team Up, Form Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League
Actress Kate Winslet has teamed up with fellow British stars Rachel Weisz and Emma Thompson to rally against Botox, body-image focused Hollywood culture, and plastic surgery by forming what they’ve dubbed the “British Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League.”
Winslet, the 35-year-old Titanic star who has in the past vehemently protested magazines’ Photoshopping of her pictures, told the UK’s Telegraph last week of the plan, saying:
“I will never give in.” Cosmetic surgery “goes against my morals, the way that my parents brought me up and what I consider to be natural beauty…I am an actress, I don’t want to freeze the expressions of my face.”
Her comments echo those by Thompson, 51, who said, “I’m not fiddling about with myself. We’re in this awful youth-driven thing now where everybody needs to look 30 at 60.”
While the lovely British trio may have been the first to form an actual anti-plastic surgery league, they aren’t the only ones in Hollywood fed up with cosmetic surgery.
In addition to Salma Hayek, who shared her thoughts on cosmetic procedures in the September issue of Allure, actress Gwyneth Paltrow recently voiced her refusal to use silicone, Botox, and “other gimmicks… of pure vanity” in a German edition of OK! magazine, reports Huffington Post.
