Selena Gomez ‘Couldn’t Be Rattled’ In Secret Justin Bieber Paparazzo Deposition
Selena Gomez was reportedly unshakeable in a secret deposition for a paparazzo-filed lawsuit against her on-off beau Justin Bieber. The pap alleges that the Canadian singer assaulted him back in 2012.
Perhaps pop princess Selena Gomez’s should play an ice queen next?
The actress-singer gave nothing away in a recent secret deposition when she was grilled by lawyers of a paparazzo who is suing her on-off beau Justin Bieber in a civil assault lawsuit, according to a new report.
Suing Paparazzo Jose Osmin Hernandez Duran alleges Gomez was a witness to an alleged incident between him and Bieber in May 2012.
The pap claims the Canadian singer punched, kicked, and threw him against a parked car in a parking lot at The Commons shopping mall in Calabasas, California, after he was spotted taking photos of the then dating pop stars.
Following an investigation into the alleged incident in 2012, Los Angeles County prosecutors declined to press charges against Bieber.
They cited a lack of evidence supporting claims of an assault by Duran, based on testimony by EMTs and police officers who attended the scene and hospital the paparazzo was taken to as routine.
It’s alleged Gomez got out of her car at one point during the alleged incident and attempted to calm Bieber down during his face-off with Duran.
Fast forward to 2014.
Gomez’s secret deposition for the Duran case was reportedly arranged between lawyers for the paparazzo and the “Come & Get It” singer, who agreed to keep the deposition secret and signed a confidentiality agreement.
But Gomez had little to no new information to offer the court after a nearly two-hour grilling says a source to Gossip Extra:
“In a nutshell, she doesn’t know much and didn’t see much about the incident,” recalled the insider.
Adding: “It wasn’t like Justin Bieber’s deposition back in Miami. Selena’s a professional, and she couldn’t be rattled.”
The outlet reports Bieber wasn’t present at Gomez’s deposition, but claims one of his lawyers was.
Selena and Justin began dating in 2010, going public with their relationship in 2011. They first split up in 2012, and have seen each other on and off since – as recently as this June – but are not currently dating each other.
Gomez is also set to be deposed in another Bieber lawsuit. This time, it’s filed by paparazzo Jeffrey Binion, who alleges Bieber ordered his bodyguards to attack Binion outside The Hit Factory recording studio in Miami on June 5, 2013. This was allegedly done after Binion was seen taking photos of the singer.
Binion’s lawyer, Mark DiCowden, has been liaising with Gomez’s attorneys for a deposition, and is determined to have it play in the public domain.
DiCowden is trying to “establish evidence of a pattern of violent behavior to maximize the award of damages against Bieber,” writes Gossip Extra.
It remains to be seen how well DiCowden fares on that, as Bieber didn’t touch Binion and he also cannot prove the singer touched Duran, whose level of alleged injury was classified as negligible by multiple sources in 2012.
DiCowden successfully ran rings around Bieber on March 6 during a videotaped deposition that set off a public relations storm for the singer, after TMZ published video extracts which went viral.
Who knew Gomez would be so cool under pressure? Actually, we should all have got a clue after her exemplary, measured response to a bullying fan on Instagram this past weekend.
