Zoe Saldana Says She’s Been ‘Disrespected’ By Exes
Zoe Saldana is a happily married woman but it wasn’t always like that. There was a time when Saldana was dating around and it didn’t look like she would get her happily ever after.
Speaking with Marie Claire Saldana revealed that she has gone through some tough times before finding Mr. Right in her husband, Italian artist Marco Perego.
Zoldana said that while she was dating she was disrespected by one of her exes.
“I have been in relationships where a man has disrespected me, and I don’t need to be friends with that man anymore.”
If you think Zoe Saldana is the type of person to have lasting friendships with all of her exes, you would be wrong. Saldana explained her stance about moving on after a relationship crashes and burns.
“I don’t want to be the one going, ‘I’m cool, because I’m friends with all my exes.’ There’s a reason why you’re called an ex. I crossed you off my list. Moving on. You cross a line, you need to know that you’re going to walk this earth knowing that there’s an individual who has no respect for you.”
Zoe Saldana does have advice for women looking for their Mr. right, and it’s something that gets lost in the search for a partner in life. Saldana said she learned, “Not to settle.”
The Avatar actress continued:
“If you’re not happy with a person, leave. And wait until you find that one person who makes you feel good about yourself every single day and is not expecting you to change, but to grow.”
As for her high profile romances, as far as we know, before Zoe met her husband Marco Perego, she dated frequent co-star Bradley Cooper. Before Cooper she was in a longterm relationship and engaged to Keith Britton, who she was with on-and-off for 11 years.
So how did she know she had found the right one? It sounds like it was purely instinctual.
“I don’t do the ABCs. I do what my heart says, what my heart feels. So from the moment I met my husband, we were together. We knew.”
The actress is not only lucky in love; her career is red hot right now. She’s lined up to star in the next five million Avatar films director James Cameron will make for the next decade, and is in the upcoming action film Guardians of The Galaxy.
