Happy National No Bra Day! Do Bras Make Breasts Sag And Vulnerable To Cancer?
Today, women around the country celebrate National No Bra Day, but there may be more to going bra-less than mere comfort. As women let the boobs of the nation swing freely today, National No Bra Day has also given women the opportunity to explore breast health. Recent scientific studies unhook the truth about bras, and there’s no better time to discuss the findings than National No Bra Day.

According to Yahoo Shine, July 9th was deemed National No Bra Day in 2011 by an anonymous Facebook user who called herself,”Anastasia Doughnuts.” It took off in a hurry, because almost everyone supports “bralessness.” From the feminists to the health nuts to the every day boob-lover, bras are a known pain.
i would be celebrating national #NoBraDay today had i not already burned every bra i own in a fit of feminist rage — Julianne Ross (@JulianneRoss) July 9, 2014
The big question, though, is: Could bras be more than just annoying? Could bras actually damage breast tissue? According to a Medical News Today report, the answer is yes.

Prof. Rouillon spent 15 years at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire measuring the breast features of hundreds of women. Rouillion found that women who never wore bras had nipples “on average seven millimeters higher in relation to their shoulders each year than regular bra users.” Rouillon believes bras actually cause boobs to sag. One woman in Rouillon’s study agreed. She said, “There are multiple benefits (to being without a bra): I breathe more easily, I carry myself better, and I have less back pain.”
Apparently today is #NoBraDay well then… Excuse me while I go to the washroom and romove this uncomfortable contraption… #FreeAtLast — Shalinda Kirby (@RadioVixxen) July 9, 2014
Rouillon said that, despite the belief women have supported since bras were first created, when women go bra-less, there “is no deterioration in the orientation of their breasts” and “there is widespread improvement in the orientation of their breasts.”

John Dixey, a former CEO of bra-maker Playtex, even admitted, “We have no evidence that wearing a bra could prevent sagging, because the breast itself is not muscle, so keeping it toned up is an impossibility.”

Tina Fey, in Bossypants, wrote, “This is what I tell young women who ask me for career advice….I encourage them to always wear a bra.Even if you don’t think you need it, just … you know what? You’re never going to regret it.”
“Not so fast, Ms. Fey,” say many women’s health advocates, “Bras can kill you!” Breast-perkiness advantages aside, Inquisitr previously reported, many research studies have shown that there may be a strong connection between long hours spent wearing a bra, and breast cancer!
