Marvel’s ‘Daredevil’: A Young Matt Murdock Goes Blind In Set Video
Marvel’s Daredevil is a new Netflix series expected to help the world forget Ben Affleck’s performance about a decade ago. A new set video has been found online which shows there is progress being made, as the new actor portraying Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) as a child is seen playing out the part where the character goes blind.
The original Daredevil was a bit of a stinker according to critics everywhere, as Affleck and then-future wife Jennifer Garner showed off a mirror of real life by recreating the romantic connection between the blind Avenger and Elektra. It wasn’t until the Director’s Cut hit retail that we finally saw the deleted scenes which helped the film make a lot more sense. It still didn’t take away the “emo” sensibilities that made audiences hate it so much, or Ben Affleck’s alleged inability to act.
In the online clip of Marvel’s Daredevil being filmed, we see a collection of people standing around, one of which is right in the middle of the street. It’s unclear what’s happening until the camera zooms in on a balding older man apparently comforting a young boy. We don’t see the boy, and as he yells, “I can’t see!,” it’s obvious that the feeling is mutual.

It is unknown whether the new Netflix series will satisfy fans of the character or further annoy them like every single Marvel Comics film has done with the hard to please fan base. If they can manage to recreate the comics according to official canon, it might succeed. Given the trend of deviating from the original storylines, the odds are really against Marvel’s Daredevil being any better received than the Ben Affleck big screen version.
Hopefully they can bring in the viewers that Agents of SHIELD has, and perhaps lead up to Daredevil’s appearance in Avengers 3.
