Neil Young Sings Iggy Azalea’s ‘Fancy’ With Crosby, Stills, And Nash
For many who grew up during the initial boom of folk rock music, the artist Neil Young hits a soft spot in their hearts. With hits such as Cinnamon Girl and Old Man, he is considered one of the innovators who paved the way for future artists. Then there was a time when he teamed up with David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash to make the band Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Now all four of them have teamed up again to perform their next song which is also a cover, and you won’t believe what song they chose: Fancy by Iggy Azalea with Charli XCX.
Uploaded on the official Youtube page of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on July 7, 2014, the video now sits at almost 750,000 views. It is also – at the moment of this article’s publication – the second most popular video on Youtube too. The video starts out with Neil Young sitting within a singular dark light on stage. He strums his guitar to begin his folk rock song. A feeling of nostalgia hits as memories of a good time back in the day are visualized… then he sings the lyrics to a song we’ve heard before, but not in this type of genre.
After getting over the initial shock that Neil Young is singing a cover of an Iggy Azalea song – in which my mind sees eons of distance between rap and folk – Neil plays his harmonica while Crosby, Stills & Nash join him to once again make Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Together, they sing the chorus of Fancy (the part performed by Charli XCX).
For many, especially me, this was an amazing video. It was also fitting that it happened on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon since the show is popular for some of the most entertaining moments on television. We here at The Inquisitr have reported such events including the giant beer pong match between Fallon and Pitbull, Kevin Hart overcoming his fear of roller coasters, and a certain situation which includes “Honey Boo Boo”. Because of such amazing skits, Jimmy Fallon now dominates late night.
Probably the reason for the appearance is to help promote Crosby, Stills & Nash’s tour right now. Nevertheless, it was cool seeing all four of them back together again. As for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, it airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. EST/10:35 p.m. CST on NBC.
