J.K. Rowling Pens Hogwarts School Update: Harry Potter Is 33-Years-Old!

J.K. Rowling isn’t done with the Harry Potter series after all! The author has written an update of sorts on Mr. Potter and his pals, now in their 30’s. According to Entertainment Weekly, the 1,500 word article, if you will, was written by “gossip columnist” Rita Skeeter and posted on fansite, Pottermore. It details Harry’s life 19 years after Hogwarts — but before the epilogue in Deathly Hallows.

According to Skeeter, Potter — who will be celebrating his 34th birthday on July 31 — still wears his round-shaped glasses. Harry’s hair is starting to go gray while his pal Rob’s “famous ginger hair” is thinning. And Hermione’s hair, for the record, is “still a mess.”

J.K. Rowling didn’t just focus on the physical aspects of her beloved characters, however. She also wrote about Hermione’s position at the Ministry of Magic and how her career is really taking off. Meanwhile, Neville Longbottom is still working as Hogwarts’ Herbology teacher. He and his wife, Hufflepuff Hannah Abbott, may soon be moving into Hogwarts full time as Abbott is applying to be the Matron at the school.

According to The Mirror UK, Skeeter wrote the piece during a Quidditch tournament. It was basically her insider info about what Harry and friends look like, and what they’ve been up to this past year or so. In short, it’s the best tease any Harry Potter fan could ask for.

And if you don’t have a Pottermore account… well, why not? There also might be something else in the works for Potter fans toward the end of the month. Leave it to Skeeter to plug her new novel, Dumbledore’s Army: The Dark Side of the Demob (sic).

J.K. Rowling has moved on from Harry Potter in many ways. While she says that she won’t be writing another Potter novel, she did write a spinoff. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be filmed at Warner Bros. Studios in London, which is where many of the Harry Potter movies were filmed. Apparently, Warner Bros. is hoping to make the spinoff into a trilogy.

“The plot is likely to focus on Newt Scamander, a young wizard who eventually becomes a magizoologist — that is, a student of magical animals. Scamander’s book eventually becomes a textbook used at Hogwarts.”

Are you excited for the Harry Potter spinoff? Do you think J.K. Rowling will write more Potter updates in the future?
