Sarah Palin appears to have given up political aspirations for a career of television punditry, but a new reality show for the former Alaska governor could be an excuse to get back in time for the 2016 presidential race.
Palin just inked a deal for the second season of her show, Amazing America with Sarah Palin , which airs on the Sportsman Channel. In the show, Palin introduces viewers to the great outdoors and some of the nation’s unsung heroes, but it also gives the former vice presidential candidate a chance to show off her values to potential voters.
Executives at the Sportsman Channel say Palin’s appeal is clear.
“Sportsman Channel has experienced tremendous growth this year and Sarah Palin’s involvement has proved to be a tremendous boon for our network and programming initiatives,” noted Marc Fein, executive vice president of programming and production.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter , Palin said she’s not terribly interested in inserting her own politics into the show or delving into a political show of her own.
When asked if she would consider doing a political talk show, Palin answered:
“Maybe. But the politics would have to be interspersed with a whole lot of fun and real life and inspiration showcasing American work ethic, because those topics are all pretty much the antithesis of today’s politics, which I find incorrigibly disastrous! It’d be so much fun to shake it up taking on issues that make audiences objectively consider all sides, and I’d do it with my own real-life groundedness, candor and commonsense that I’m known for.”
But in other venues, Sarah Palin has remained very vocal about her beliefs. She has openly criticized President Obama on issues ranging from immigration to gun control, and has now shifted to a new political punching bag — Hillary Clinton .
The increased focus on Clinton shows to some that Palin could be interested in a run for the presidency in 2016. Clinton is the presumed Democratic nominee, and Palin has made attacks that could lay the groundwork for a run herself.
Sarah Palin has made no official statements about her intentions for the 2016 presidential race, but television viewers will be able to see her soon on Season 2 of Amazing America with Sarah Palin.
