Garth Brooks Announces Press Conference On Website To Discuss Upcoming Tour Plans
Garth Brooks is building suspense around a major announcement he plans to make via press conference on Thursday, July 10, at noon EST. About a week ago, an almost ominous message loomed on his website: “The wait is over… 7/7.” Today, the message changed to an invitation to view a live press conference on Thursday, which will be available for viewing via his website.
Rumors of a Garth Brooks tour made headlines across the world when he told Robin Roberts on Good Morning America:
We’re going on a world tour in 2014… We’ve talked about it, and all my babies are fine with it, (Brooks’ wife) Ms. (Trisha) Yearwood is fine with it. So now I get to do what I love to do, which is play music. I get to be with the person I want to be with, which is Ms. Yearwood.
Now, is it possible that Garth’s PR camp is orchestrating this event to build anticipation regarding the announcement of a new tour?
USA Today reports that this would be Brook’s first fully comprehensive tour since 2001. He’s taken a 13 year hiatus from music altogether to raise his children with wife Trisha Yearwood. Furthermore, if his interview on GMA is any indication, he will be not only touring, but Trisha Yearwood would be co-headlining.
Of course, all of this is speculation pending this major announcement on Thursday.
Garth Brooks and his music is loved around the world. He has sold more than 69 million albums worldwide, which trumps the Beatles total album sales by 4 million, according to UpRoxx. He is listed as the top-selling solo recording artist of all time. It’s pretty safe to say that he is a household name. So it’s relatively possible that a worldwide tour could do very well despite his 13 year retirement.
Still, it is possible that Brooks will also announce the release of a new album. His most recent album was an eight-disc box set titled Blame It All on My Roots, which was released in November, but he has not released any other material since Scarecrow back in 2001. However, if Garth Brooks is planning a full fledged return to music, it is likely that his announcement on Thursday could very well mean both a new album and a world tour. After all, what’s the point of releasing a new album if you’re not planning a tour to go along with it and every world tour needs new music, right?
Regardless of what happens on Thursday, it’s likely to be music to any Garth Brooks fan’s ears. Furthermore, The Inquisitr will be closely following this story as it develops, so check back for details or subscribe to the RSS feed to get updates as they hit the press!
