WWE News: AJ Lee’s Return On WWE RAW Could Signal A Potential CM Punk Return
WWE RAW was terrific this past week with returns out the wazoo. One return that shocked many of us was the return of AJ Lee. When Paige came out to sort of gloat over her recent victories as Diva’s Champion, it made many of us happy in some ways. We were seeing a person that we have been clamoring to see for over a year succeeding as a champion. The problem was, she was becoming stale and needed something to help.
It would time to “light something up,” if you will, and AJ Lee was the person for the job. She came out and managed to talk Paige into a rematch for her Diva’s Championship. Lee is the longest reigning WWE Diva’s Champion in history and her next reign might potentially be just as long.
Many of us were shocked to see her because of the thought that she might never come back. AJ married WWE Superstar CM Punk in June and rumors were swirling that she was also pregnant. AJ was supposed to return to the WWE back in late May or early June, and she simply did not show.
Punk has been away from WWE for over 6 months now, and his contract expires around the end of this month. There is talk of extending it simply to help sell more merchandise among other things, which WWE can do according to their talent contract if a talent is unable to or refuses to perform.
The same was done with Rey Mysterio when he was hurt, in fact.
AJ has more time on her current Diva’s contract, and WWE would love for her to sign a new deal for a hefty sum, as she is young enough to be with WWE for at least another 5-8 years. She is also the top Diva in the company with the most star-power.
The cool part is, she loves the WWE and has always wanted to be with the company. She commented on the fact that WWE took her off the streets and gave her a job. She mentioned that she would always be grateful to them for that, but of course, she has her own life to live.
While Punk may have wanted to leave and not come back for a while, AJ is clearly her own person. She wants to be with WWE, which makes many start to wonder.
AJ is now married to Punk. For those who know what it’s like to be newlyweds, it is not easy to be away from your wife or husband when you first get together, especially if you’re truly in love with them. When they go off when you know members of the opposite sex will be present, you may find yourself in jealousy mode simply by default. With AJ back, at least until her current contract is up sometime next year, it makes one think that Punk might follow.
Many reports claim that WWE will renew his deal without his permission. Due to that, whether he wants to be or not, he’s a WWE Superstar potentially until the end of the year. It would not be crazy for him to finish the rest of the year out and then leave. It could be that he might want to stay, but either way, he’d leave the right way.
Another interesting note is that a personal hero of CM Punk’s is coming to WWE in the coming months. KENTA, a Japanese Superstar, has been killing it there and throughout the world for years. He actually invented the GTS and Anaconda Vice that Punk uses on the regular. Their styles are eerily similar and Punk would most likely love to be in WWE at the same time as someone like KENTA.
AJ alone would be enticing, but KENTA as well….that could be too much to turn down. Also, leaving a good taste in the WWE Universe’s mouth would be better than leaving the way he did. Fans have been seemingly begging to see him back on TV, chanting “CM Punk” at every single WWE show since his departure. While WWE did not tell him to leave, and he chose on his own, the fans do not care. They simply want their Straight Edge Superstar back.
With so much to look at here, and the potential for Punk to have a good last run with WWE, it would make sense for him to return now more than ever. Before, it was simple hope, but now it seems that it could be more likely than ever before. The WWE could use Punk during this time as well, so every party wins in the end for once. Really, can you ask for more than that?
