Former ‘Scandal’ Star, Columbus Short Arrested After He Reportedly Had a Fight With Off-Duty Cops
Columbus Short has been the center of controversy for the past couple months. Now, the former Scandal star is making headlines yet again for another one of his alleged temper tantrums.
According to Radar Online, the 31-year-old actor was arrested following an altercation that took place at the Katy Trail Ice House in Dallas, TX on Friday, July 4. The Stomp the Yard actor-dancer reportedly began fighting with off-duty police officers at the bar. Although he was said to have started the altercation with the cops, he wasn’t arrested for assault. He was taken into custody for public intoxication.
Dallas Police Department spokesperson, Warren Mitchell stated that Short was arrested around 2:00am on Saturday, July 5 following the gritty bar fight that took place late Friday night.
However, this isn’t the troubled actor’s first run-in at a bar. As a matter of fact, he’s had quite a few physical altercations that made headlines earlier this year. Back in February, he was charged with misdemeanor spousal battery following an altercation with his wife, Tuere Tanee. Short allegedly attacked his wife, which led to the numerous media reports that revealed details about their tumultuous marriage.
Tanee reportedly pressed charges against her estranged husband. According to court documents, Short has a history of domestic violence and a number of shocking details about the alleged abuse she suffered. Tanee also alleges that Short threatened to kill her.
“[Columbus], who appeared intoxicated, walked into the room with a wine bottle and stared at me threateningly. He then charged me, grabbed the phone, and started yelling at me abusively,” Tanee recounted of the altercation in court documents. “He then pinned me on the couch and began to choke me. He placed the knife close to my neck and threatened to kill me and then kill himself.”
But, that’s not all. Short was also involved in a knockdown, drag-out bar fight back in March. He was reportedly charged with felony battery after he knocked out a patron at a restaurant in West Los Angeles, CA.
No information has been released in regards to when Short was released from custody.
