Ed Sheeran Gets A Little Respect From Pharrell Williams

Everyone loves Ed Sheeran these days, including Pharrell Williams.

Although most people wouldn’t know Sheeran from a random can of biscuits at the supermarket a few years ago, the guy is now an international celebrity with fans in just about every corner of the planet. Love for the “A Team” singer doesn’t begin and end with the masses; Sheeran is apparently beloved by some of the biggest names in the industry.

According to ITV, Pharrell Williams — who produced the track “Sing” on Sheeran’s latest album X — has nothing but love and respect for the guy. If you think there’s something wrong with Ed’s unique brand of folk music, then Williams needs to set you straight.

“Ed Sheeran is one of the greatest singer-songwriters — period,” Pharrell recently said about the 23-year-old musician.

Of course, Sheeran’s adoring fans completely agree with that sentiment.

Not surprisingly, Ed Sheeran feels the same way about Pharrell. Although he wasn’t too sure about “Sing” when the pair first started cooking up the tune, Sheeran said everything eventually fell into place.

He recently explained:

“He’s just so talented so I’m really excited to work with him. He was supposed to be here this week, so we were gonna write. And now he’s not, so we’re trying to figure out a time when we can write together.”

He also told BBC News:

“The first proper session I had with [Pharrell Williams] in the studio, he was at number one with ‘Get Lucky’ and I said, ‘Have you got somewhere more important to be?’ But he’s very good at knocking compliments back and is just such a humble guy.”

Apparently Ed Sheeran’s collaboration worked out well for the young singer; X reportedly debuted at the very top of the Billboard albums charts. Sheeran moved a whopping 210,000 copies of the record in just seven days. It’s safe to say that the singer will have of the biggest albums of 2014.

Are you surprised that Ed Sheeran has so many famous fans?
