Mariah Carey: Nick Cannon Says The Singer Is A ‘Wonderful Mom’

Mariah Carey initially had some doubts about starting her own family, but it didn’t take long for the singer’s mind to change once she married Nick Cannon.

Carey recently dished about her childhood with Out magazine. Since her parents divorced when Mariah was just a kid, the idea of starting a family and raising children didn’t hold much appeal. In fact, Carey said she wasn’t sure if she ever wanted to have babies.

The singer said about her experience growing up in Long Island:

“Here’s the thing: would I have been better off if my parents stayed married? No way. They were miserable together, but the grass is always greener. I feel I had a great childhood in some ways, and that’s an amazing thing to be able to say. But I also feel I didn’t because I was the caretaker and I still am, like it started long before I had any financing.”

Enter Nick Cannon, the man who would ultimately convinced Mariah Carey to start a family of her own. During his recent chat with The Huffington Post, Cannon said that Carey is a fantastic mother. Nick seems thrilled that he was able to convince the singer that having kids was definitely a good idea.

Mariah’s hubby explained:

“”It’s kind of cool I got a chance to bring that side out of my wife, because she’s so nurturing and amazing. Not only does she get to be the biggest global singer in the world, but she also gets to be a wonderful mom.”

In addition to taking care of her fraternal twins, Mariah Carey is also trying to nurture her music career. Unfortunately, it seems that the singer is a better mother than she is a musician these days. The Inquisitr previously reported that Me. I am Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse failed to make an impression when it arrived back in May.

That doesn’t mean Carey didn’t pour her heart and soul into the album.

“I want the album to be heard and felt [as] an experience. I don’t want to just be, like, ‘Here’s another iTunes moment,’ and this and that. Back then I allowed people to — how do I say it? — dictate policy to me, meaning if I didn’t like something they didn’t care. I listened to people — I was, like, ‘Fine, cool, do whatever.’ So now I’m just being adamant.”
