Taye Diggs Scores New Girlfriend In Amanza Smith Brown [Report]
Taye Diggs might have found love again after his split from wife Idina Menzel. Merely six months after announcing the news that devastated Broadway fans, it looks like Diggs is off the market.
According to US Weekly, Diggs decided to wait until the BET Awards to “officially” step out with model Amanza Smith Brown. The two hit the red carpet at the awards show in Los Angeles. If Brown looks familiar, it might be due to her famous ex-husband. Amanza is the ex-wife to former NFL player Ralph Brown. The couple have two children together. As for Diggs he shares a son, Walker, with ex Menzel.
Despite Diggs walking the red carpet with Brown, he isn’t technically divorced from Idina Menzel, which would make sense on why he hasn’t really publicly announced his relationship with Amanza. As for Idina, just the other day she had a few things to say about dating as a single mother. In short Menzel said, “it all sucks” before she elaborated.
Most of her dating woes is because she’s worried about how everything affects her four-year-old son Walker, she said:
“I don’t want to keep introducing him to people and having him form bonds and then take ’em away, you know. It’s bad enough his mom and dad are getting divorced.”
Meanwhile her ex Taye Diggs felt the pressure that came with being a beloved Hollywood couple and Broadway power duo when they were together.
“I’d be lying if I said there weren’t times when I thought, ‘Oh, man, people are going to trip out [if we split],” Said Diggs.
“Maybe they thought it was cute that we met in ‘Rent.’ There weren’t a lot of couples like us in the theater community — and I know there aren’t a lot of performers as talented as she is… and then you have the whole mixed [race] thing. It was easy for people to root for us.”
As far as his relationship with Amanza Smith Brown, the Murder in The First actor was first spotted with the model back in April. That said, perhaps this relationship isn’t really serious and the two are just testing the waters. Earlier in the month Taye was more coy when dishing on his love life with former radio personality Wendy Williams.
On transitioning to going back into the game of dating, Diggs said:
“We were together for fifteen years. I’m hanging in there. It’s not awesome. I’m hanging out with people. I’m meeting people. I’ve never had ‘game.’ These days I’m a single dad so if I see somebody it’s literally, ‘So you have kids? Is he out of diapers yet?’ I reached out of my pocket and pulled out two pacifiers. It’s a different game.”
