Harry Styles Leaving One Direction?

Harry Styles may soon be singing solo, if internet rumors and tabloid stories are to be believed. According to the Irish Independent, a band called Kodaline went on record stating that they co-wrote a song for a Harry Styles’ solo record, which in turn caused Styles’ massive fan base to swoon–and not in a good way.

Kodaline frontman, Steve Garrigan, mentioned the collaboration in an interview with Digital Sky.

He just turned up to a show, and he likes our music. We had a bit of free time and so we went to the studio and wrote a song. It was good fun. (The track) could be on his album if he does something, but I don’t know. Nothing is set in stone.”

Styles’ representative quickly responded on E! News Online with a statement.

“There are no plans for Harry to release any solo music at this time, any writing that he is doing is for potential One Direction songs. It’s common knowledge that the boys write separately and bring to each other for the album.”

The E! News article goes on to state that Harry Styles was seen around Italy all by himself, without bandmates or female companionship. Styles was caught on camera in a Swedish nightclub with a “mystery woman” in June, but that mystery may have already fizzled.

Harry Styles has been busy, with or without mystery women or the rest of One Direction. According to Metro, Styles’ co-wrote a new track on Ariana Grande’s new album. The track is called A Little Bit of Your Heart and will be featured on Grande’s new album that drops in August.

It’s not unheard of for members of One Direction to branch out and collaborate with other artists. The Houston Chronicle reports that One Direction members, Niall Horan and Liam Payne have both worked with other artists recently. Horan wrote with the English pop rock band, McFly, and Payne put in some work in the studio with Pharrell Williams.

In addition, the next One Direction album seems to be full of guest collaborations, as described in a recent Metro article. Everyone from Emeli Sande to The 1975 to John Legend to even Good Charlotte has been rumored to be working with Harry Styles and the boys on the fourth One Direction album.

One Direction is set to return to North America for a new leg of their tour beginning on August 1 in Toronto, Ontario and ending on October 5 in Miami, Florida. By all accounts, Harry Styles will be with the band every step of the way.
