WWE News: Four Major SummerSlam Matches Already Booked?
WWE is just now coming off the Money in the Bank pay-per-view and a fantastic Monday Night Raw. Many questions were answered in the last two days about future programming. John Cena won the WWE World Heavyweight championship, Seth Rollins won the Money in the Bank briefcase and Chris Jericho is set to feud with Bray Wyatt.
Many outlets are reporting that four matches are already in the books for SummerSlam in August.
- Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight championship: Since the poster spoiled the match a bit, WWE will be looking for another way for the match to happen. It is possible that Cena could lose the belt at Battleground and win it back. Lesnar should be fighting for the belt. He conquered the Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak. Not fighting for the belt would make the least sense in all of professional wrestling storytelling.
- Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella: McMahon is in rare form after her storyline with Vickie Guerrero ended last week. Some even say she is Vince McMahon all over again. The match will be entertaining, due to McMahon’s history around the business. Remember, this wouldn’t be her first rodeo in the ring.
- Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns: This will be the second step Reigns will take in order to gain access to the WWE COO. HHH will throw all his lackeys at Reigns, before the boss takes business into his own hands. It’s evident that Reigns will lose at Battleground, causing a match with Orton to take place at SummerSlam. After that, the WWE Universe may see a match between the two behemoths at Hell in a Cell or Survivor Series.
- Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt: Last night proved that Jericho would be returning for the long-term to feud with one of his favorite WWE superstars. Wyatt took out Jericho last night on Raw with his cronies. Get ready for the mic work that is to come; both men are superb with the stick in their hands. As for their wrestling ability, both men have top-notch wrestling techniques. This could possibly steal the show at SummerSlam.
All four matches have the potential to do great things for WWE. Having Lesnar go over Cena will be a likely choice by WWE Creative. If he didn’t defeat the Undertaker, then obvious actions would have been taken to procure a great feud, without Lesnar winning the belt.
McMahon and Bella will be for a new contract most likely, having Brie fight against the Billion Dollar Princess. Wyatt and Jericho will be a show-stealer, like I said above. Don’t expect a Y2J victory though; he loves to put over young talent for fun.
Reigns and Orton should be a stepping-stone for the new-Superman of WWE, pitting Reigns as the victor.
In the weeks to come, many thought-provoking questions will have to be answered. One in particular, CM Punk’s contract with WWE will be ending around July 17th. WWE may want to sign him automatically, rather than just let it run out. If he does re-sign, all bets will be off for SummerSlam.
