Prince George Is ‘Very Funny’ And ‘Amazing,’ Pippa Middleton Says Of England’s Future King [Video]

Prince George came up in an interview that Today’s Matt Lauer had with Kate Middleton’s sister, Pippa Middleton, on Tuesday. Asking Pippa what it’s like to be an aunt to England’s future king, she said, “It’s wonderful.”

In an interview clip of part two, in a two-part series, NBC News’ shows Pippa smiling broadly when asked about her royal nephew. He’s brought everyone closer together in the family. She tells Lauer:

“I think that’s sort of the heart for all of us, is having a really close family.”

Pippa glows when talking about George, who will be 1-years-old July 22:

“He’s amazing. He’s a very dear boy. He’s brought a lot of pleasure and fun for all us, the whole family.”

Matt Lauer teased Pippa, asking her if Prince George “drools” whenever she walks in the room. She answers his question acting like she didn’t catch on to the possibility he meant something other than typical baby drool:

“I guess he’s one. He probably should drool at almost one.”

Middleton describes the young prince as a fun-loving nephew:

“He’s very characterful. He’s sort of brought us all together and we love spending weekends with him. He’s very funny.”

According to the Washington Post, producers of Today “refrained” from showing another photo of Prince George “at the mention of family.”

Of course, Matt Lauer asks Pippa about her relationship with her sister, the Duchess of Cambridge. She tells him that they’re very close and nothing has really changed between them since Kate married into royalty. Being the most popular member of the British royal family does have its own set of pressures for Kate, as Pippa shares:

“Obviously she has pressures that she’s taking on and things, but we spend a lot of time together. We still do a lot together as a family.”

In spite of those pressures and Kate’s demanding life as Prince William’s wife, Pippa says they always “support each other.” In addition to that, they keep each other “on the ground” in terms of how high-profile their lives have become.

Pippa Middleton keeps busy with her career as a freelance writer and party planner. She continues to work with charities and just completed a 3,000-mile bike race in the U.S. with her brother, James Middleton, in a fundraiser.

As for Prince George, his last royal appearance was on Father’s Day at a polo tournament his father was competing in. He made news for venturing off in many directions while Kate kept up with him.
