Alec Baldwin Slated to Make SNL Return, Set Hosting Record

While we may not see Alec Baldwin return as Jack Donaghy for the rumored final season of NBC’s award-winning comedy 30 Rock, we will still be able to get our dose of his unique sense of humor by tuning into the premiere of the 37th season of Saturday Night Live.

In what will be his SNL record setting 16th time hosting the hilarious late-night sketch comedy show, Baldwin is slated to make his return to the famous Studio 8H – where SNL has aired since it’s inception in 1975 – on September 24th.

Although Alec – currently tied at 15 with his Twitter BFF Steve Martin for most times as guest host – was never an official cast member on SNL, he appeared so regularly on the hit comedy show that he has his very own “best of” DVD.

Notable performances by Baldwin in the past have included his role as Pete Schweddy in “Schweddy Balls,” an impression of Charles Nelson Reilly, and a role as a Scoutmaster in the Adam Sandler “Canteen Boy” sketch series.

In addition to the Baldwin announcement NBC also has revealed that the second episode in the upcoming season will feature “Bridesmaids” star Melissa McCarthy, who will be making her SNL hosting debut.
