Taylor Swift Receives Plenty Of Praise From Lorde

Remember when Taylor Swift was apparently a little too perfect to serve as a proper role model for young girls? Apparently Lorde doesn’t feel that way anymore.

In the months following that admittedly bizarre comment, the New Zealand songstress spent some quality time with the country music darling. Her perception of Swift has evidently changed since last October, as Lorde recently declared that Taylor is, in fact, a worthy role model for young people. It’s amazing how feelings can change when you actually get to know someone before passing judgment.

According to the International Business Times, Taylor Swift received a stack of praise from her new-found friend during a recent interview. Instead of seeing Taylor as a “flawless,” “unattainable” freak, Lorde thinks Swift is actually quite good for young girls.

The New Zealand singer explained:

“I think there are artists who are really incredible role models and that’s something I admire. I feel like Taylor is a really good role model and I think that the girls who listen to her music are so devoted to her, and I think what she’s saying is pretty cool. It’s empowering. If we have the same work problems, we know each other’s lives better. It’s always good befriending people who do a similar thing.”

Although Lorde cleared up her remarks about Swift shortly after the media caught wind of the diss, the singer found herself receiving plenty of negative attention from Taylor’s fans after she dropped the following comment last October.

Observe:

“Taylor Swift is so flawless, and so unattainable, and I don’t think it’s breeding anything good in young girls. ‘I’m never going to be like Taylor Swift, why can’t I be as pretty as Lorde?’ That’s f**king bulls**t.”

Of course, Lorde isn’t the only one weighing in on Taylor Swift these days. Ed Sheeran, who always seems to have something to say about the country music star, recently told Time that Swift doesn’t really act her age.

Sheeran said of Swift’s behavior:

“She’s very crafty. I know she’s 24 but she’s a sort of middle-aged woman trapped in a 24-year-old’s body. She hangs out with her cat and sews things.”
