Kaley Cuoco Is A New Mama – Of A Rescue Puppy
All it took for Kaley Cuoco to turn her family of three dogs into a family of four – not counting her horses and her husband Ryan Sweeting – was an appearance at a rescue this week. When Kaley taped a segment for E! News from the West Valley Animal Shelter, she met Ruby, and within hours the tiny pup was making house with Cuoco’s other canine companions.
Breaking the news to her followers on Instagram, Kaley captioned the picture of her planting a big kiss on Ruby’s cheek with the message: “This little one starred in our @enews segment and I couldn’t get her off my mind. So I went back and got her[.] Welcome to the family miss Ruby!!! Thank u west valley animal shelter for keeping her safe!”
This has been a week of animal-rights issues and causes for Cuoco, who is an active equestrian and known proponent of the rights of all animals. She appeared at an event Monday that supported the Humane Society of the United States’ campaign against seal hunting. Kaley told US Weekly:
“Animals are so dear to me, I want to be the voice they can’t be, and I want to use my so-called fame for a good cause and be able to talk about it[.] It makes me very proud, it makes me want to help any way I can. I love every animal—you name it, I’m standing up for pit bulls, horses, now it’s seals. There’s so many problems with animals not being treated as they should be, so every day I feel like I have a new cause. I’m very proud to be here supporting this.”
Indeed, the dog-loving Cuoco has been vocal about her support of pitbulls – she has three of her own, the classically-named Shirley, Loretta and Norman. When Ruby settles in at the Cuoco-Sweeting house, she will be the only non-pitbull in the home. When a prominent article was published recently that was critical of the breed, Kaley tweeted out her upset reaction:
Many of u asked if I read the #time article about “killer pit bulls”. I just did. have to take a twitter break. Can’t stomach this anymore

As the Belfast Telegraph recounted Monday, Kaley told Ellen DeGeneres in 2012 of her pitbulls: “I love them. I think they’re the greatest dogs in the world… the friendliest, sweetest – I think it’s all in how you raise them.”
