Earlier today, singer Katy Perry became the first artist ever to have five singles from the same album make it to the #1 spot on Billboard’s Pop Songs Chart .
Perry’s newest single, Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) , climbed up this week from number two on Billboard’s top 40 chart to grab the top spot, joining her previous chart-toppers: “Teenage Dream,””California Gurls,” “Firework” and “E.T.” – all from her platinum-selling second album Teenage Dream .
Prior to her Teenage Dream success, Katy was tied with Justin Timberlake ( FutureSex/LoveSounds ) and Lady Gaga ( The Fame) , whose albums yielded four number ones apiece.
In addition to breaking the single’s record, Perry’s latest hit – currently holding down the #2 position – is set to take over the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 , which would make her the second artist ever to mark five #1 singles from the same album on the iconic chart, a mark held by Michael Jackson’s Bad .
