‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ TV Spot Uses A Possible Inside Joke [Video]
The latest Guardians of the Galaxy TV spot gives us yet another dose of the upcoming Marvel and Disney film’s humor. Planned as an expansion on the universe that Avengers built, this movie takes the comedic route like the comics it’s based on, even delivering a little possible inside casting humor.
We already know that GotG will star some big name actors (or at least their voices) in an action packed outer space story involving a group of criminals turned reluctant heroes. Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) appears to be the leader of a group consisting of the muscle-bound psycho Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), the green female assassin Gamora (Zoe Saldana), the living tree Groot (Vin Diesel), and the feisty gun-toting Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper). When a greater threat hits the galaxy, these outlaws have to team up and stop it because they are the only ones who can.
The extended Guardians of the Galaxy TV spot tells us, “Our world is facing an unstoppable threat. We can’t do this alone.”
John C. Reilly, no stranger to comedy, replies that he know someone who can help. That someone is Star-Lord, and they have their reservations about his team because they’re all mercenaries, which the unusual team’s leader describes as “the best in the business.”

Rocket Raccoon even questions why Star-Lord would want to help these intergalactic police save the galaxy, and the answer comes back, “because I’m one of the idiots who lives in it!”
Apparently Rocket Raccoon got his name from not only his appearance, but the kind of gun he prefers to use, and he’s proud of it as he shows it off.
As they brainstorm how they’re going to manage accomplishing this massive task, there is what could be an inside joke referring to another Bradley Cooper film, The A-Team. Time-Lord tells him he has a plan, something Hannibal from the other film would say, and Rocket Raccoon laughs at him.
GotG is coming to theaters August 14. What do you think of the latest Guardians of the Galaxy TV spot?
