Lil Wayne To Release Two Albums In 2014, No Plans To Retire
Lil Wayne isn’t retiring anytime soon. The rapper announced that he has two releases in the works before the year is up in the form of two brand new solo albums.
As stated, the rapper, who had plans to retire, revealed during his Weezy Wednesday web video that he’s releasing not only one but two solo albums.
“This year, not only will I be dropping Tha Carter V, but I’m dropping two albums. Be looking forward to two albums, two albums from me because… I been out the game for a second.”
Lil Wayne realized that he needed two albums because the material he recorded for Tha Carter V was overwhelming, and the material was too solid not to include on another album. If you think the two discs is Lil Wayne’s final bow then you are mistaken, at least today you are.
According to Lil Wayne he’s not going to stop at two solo albums in 2014. His other musical ventures will see new music from Wayne into 2015. The New Orleans rapper explained:
“I went to work on Tha Carter V and I don’t stop working, so it was either Tha Carter V gonna be 93 songs, or we’re gonna have to figure this out. So what we said was, ‘Alright, we’re going to drop two albums this year, then we’re going to probably end up dropping like seven next year.”
While we don’t think his label would allow him to drop seven albums, we can see Lil Wayne dropping another two albums in 2015 and make big bank. Wayne sure hasn’t wasted any of his time. Aside from recording Tha Carter V and an additional album, Wayne recently announced that he has plans to kick off a tour with his Young Money friend and colleague Drake.
The tour will start on August 8 and will make additional stops in Cincinnati, Virginia Beach, Charlotte, Atlanta, Austin and Los Angeles. The 31-city tour will wrap up on September 27 in Woodlands, Texas. If the tour sells well, it’s believed that additional dates might be added. Considering the duo of Drake and Lil Wayne, and we think they’re going to enjoy a lot of extra dates added to the schedule.
It’s a bit of a surprise that Lil Wayne has been so busy. Last year he went through health problems when he was hospitalized for seizures twice in 2013. Back in March the rapper confirmed to MTV News that he was retiring. Looks like he had a change of heart after all.
