Duck Dynasty Guys Getting Congressional Campaign Jobs?
Earlier this month, The Inquistr reported that the nephew of Phil Robertson, one of the cast members from the reality show Duck Dynasty, would be running for a Congressional seat. Now it seems the candidate, Zach Dasher, will be giving campaign jobs to his uber-famous Duck Dynasty family members.
It’s unclear whether or not Dasher is serious about employing members of the Duck Dynasty cast, but according to Politico, the family is going to be a big part of his running strategy. He appeared on Hannity recently and said this about his Duck Dynasty family:
“They’re going to be a big part of the campaign. I’m going to have Phil as my PR director — he’s so good with the media, and I’m probably going to have Si as my strategic consultant.”
Dasher may not actually hire those members of the Duck Dynasty family for those roles, but it’s obvious he’s using their fame and notoriety to his advantage. Duck Dynasty is extremely popular among conservative, religious viewers and Republicans. Excluding the Duck Dynasty brand from his campaign strategy would probably be a huge mistake.
The candidate’s platform “begins with God,” according to The Christian Post. His uncle and other members of the Duck Dynasty crew share Dasher’s firm Christian stance. They often create controversy by praying openly on episodes of Duck Dynasty. Dasher seems to be embracing the worldview that his Duck Dynasty family is known for, claiming their support “means a lot” to him.
“We’re still working on the details,” Dasher said. “We share a similar background and philosophy, be it political or our spiritual beliefs as well.”
Phil Robertson’s nephew will be running for Congressman in the 5th Congressional district of Louisiana. Robertson will likely endorse his nephew in every way he can. After all, the Duck Dynasty guys have endorsed politicians before who weren’t even their kin. Last year, the Phil Robertson supported Republican Vance McAllister in a special election bid.
The Duck Dynasty-endorsed candidate may get plenty of votes from the religious right, but might not get much support anywhere else. The Duck Dynasty crew frequently offends the public with their anti-gay sentiments. The Huffington Post reported that Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson continues to “preach hate” in his attempt to prove homosexuality is a sin. Getting involved in politics yet again, Robertson instructed citizens of Alabama to vote out anyone who supports gay rights:
“Alabama, whatever you do, register to vote for this presidential election! Go vote for the House and the Senate, too. Vote this ungodly bunch out of Washington, D.C!”
Would you vote for Zach Dasher? Or would you rather not be associated with Duck Dynasty?
