Amy Poehler And Tina Fey Are Using Craigslist For Cast Of New Film
Craigslist has been an okay source at best for actors to find work in independent projects, but it’s rarely been used for a studio film for the likes of someone with mega star power like Amy Poehler and Tina Fey — until now.
Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are collaborating once again to create a new comedy film called The Nest. Their production team is currently using Craigslist to look for some characters in East Meadow, Long Island. According to Vanity Fair, the ad for Poehler’s new movie, which is sure to get a ton of hits as well as resumes, is looking for some last minute characters in East Meadow, Long Island.
Now before you race over, there are a few specifications that Poehler is looking for, includinv “professional manicurists-pedicurists to portray female Korean nail salon workers.” Unlike some Craigslist ads, this one isn’t shrouded in secrecy — it actually states that the film is a “Tina Fey & Amy Poehler Film.” Even if you may not fit the bill for this role, the fact that Poehler and Fey are using Craigslist as a vehicle to find additional actors is a good sign that other productions may follow their lead.
Before you think this is one big elaborate hoax, Universal, the company behind the film has confirmed that the craigslist ad is actually real. Amy Poehler’s The Nest has already been in the news due to the addition of another SNL-alum Maya Rudolph’s inclusion. Rudolph is set to play Poehler and Fey’s childhood friend.
In The Nest, two estranged sisters spend a weekend reminiscing as they pack up their childhood home before throwing a huge bash to celebrate. In addition to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler being a part of the cast, Ike Barinholtz, John Leguizamo, and Josh Brolin also star in the film.
At one point, the Poehler-Fey venture was filming in Rockland County, New York. As far as a release date goes, the mini SNL reunion is due to hit theaters on December 18, 2015, which is the same time that Star Wars: Episode VII will be dropping into theaters.
This isn’t the first time Amy Poehler and Tina Fey have gotten together since they left their posts at Saturday Night Live. The pairing has hosted two Golden Globes ceremonies, and are usually always buddying up at the Emmys. However, this is the first project that Fey, Poehler, and Rudolph are all involved in since Saturday Night Live, which is huge for any fan of the comedy sketch show.
The Nest is produced by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler is an executive producer.
