Mel Gibson Arrested In New Mexico But It’s Not What You Think
Did Mel Gibson break bad? The actor was arrested in Albuquerque, New Mexico, this morning but as TMZ has reported it isn’t what one would think when putting the words Mel Gibson and arrested in the same sentence. This time around Mel was simply stepping into a role.
As lame as an excuse as that sounds, it’s true. Gibson entered the Albuquerque jail as part of his film Blood Father. The film is currently shooting in New Mexico. Mel is playing an ex-con, and this morning the actor went to the courthouse dressing to the nines in a suit and tie after shooting a scene in jail.
The only other news we have on the Mel Gibson film comes from Shameless star William H. Macy. Last week he tweeted the exciting news that he was starring in the film with Gibson and that they were currently shooting. Macy took a selfie of himself with Mel to announce the news, and he looked significantly cleaned up, as he’s usually unkept for his role on the Showtime series. Gibson on the other hand sported a salt and pepper beard and a messy look.

Blood Father follows Gibson who reunites with his estranged 16-year-old daughter once she becomes the target of drug dealers. The film also stars American Hustle‘s Elisabeth Rohm.
Although today Gibson was playing on the other side of the law. Mel, who suffers from alcoholism and manic depression, after being sober for most of his career, was arrested in 2006 for a DUI. During the arrest Gibson went on a now infamous anti-Semitic rant, accusing the Jews for being responsible for “all the wars in the world.”
In 2010 Gibson once again found himself as a viral sensation for all the wrong reasons, when his partner Oksana Grigorieva leaked a phone call that they had. During the call he suggested that she should get “raped by a pack of n****rs.” Oksana also had a restraining order against him for a domestic violence related incident. Eventually he pled no contest to the misdemeanor battery charge.
The news of the actor filming another movie is on the heels of Gary Oldman defending Gibson for his anti-Semitic rant. During an interview Oldman said, “We’ve all said those things. We all hide and try to be so politically correct. That’s what gets me. take a f**king joke and get over it.”
