Jeremy Meeks, the felon whose mug shot went viral and earned him a “sexy felon” moniker and a bunch of weird fetishing memes, has a wife, and his wife is not happy about his new-found fame.
Meeks’ wife is not at all happy about women on the internet fawning all over her husband Jeremy, who she has two children with. Rajanique Davis has not come forward to express her opinion, but a friend of hers, Simon Johnson, has spoke on her behalf to local news affiliate CBS Sacramento . Apparently, the memes, which feature her husband’s baby blues photo shopped on models in ad campaigns such as Calvin Klein and Dolce & Gabbana, are not a laughing matter .
Davis’ friend explains:
“It’s ridiculous. People are making jokes when this is not funny at all. She’s furious. Her man is in there and people are taking it as a joke, thinking it’s funny talking about his looks, saying all kinds of crazy things.”
Although her husband is currently receiving marriage proposals, his overnight celebrity does have a silver lining. Strangers have donated money to their family to the tune of $3,600, so, if anything, that could probably help Jeremy’s family out quite a bit.
Meeks’ mother, Katherine Angier, started a donation page to free her son. On one of the posts she shares pictures of her son in a happier setting with his children and writes:
“He has a job and… He was on his way to work. With no gang affiliations as per two of the charges. He has old tattoos..which causes him to be sterotyped (sic). He’s my son and I’m just trying to raise funds to help him in anyway. Please help him to get a fair trial or else he’ll be railroaded.”
Additionally the family has created a Jeremy Meeks Facebook page to spur on positivity for the felon. A family friend of Jeremy’s wrote on the Facebook page:
“I’m sick of seeing all the negative photos circulating the internet that people have made who have no idea who Jeremy is. Jeremy Meeks in not the criminal the public has made him out to be. He’s one of the most generous people I’ve ever met. He’ll give you the shirt off his own back. Jeremy has a fulltime job and he’s a full time family man. He has a past that he served his time for and now the public is painting a nasty picture of him and he’s being stereotyped for his old tattoos. We’re all upset (friends and family) that everyone is judging him without even knowing him.”
As far as Jeremy Meeks’ case goes, the felon was arraigned on Friday for eleven felony counts, which include firearm possession, street gang membership, and violating his probation.
Earlier, we reported Meeks was arrested on June 18 and was held on $900,000 bail after being arrested for “illegally possessing firearms and ammo, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and criminal street gang activity.”
Once his mugshot accidentally became a viral hit, thanks to the Stockton’s Police Department’s Facebook page, Meeks granted an interview to clear his name. At the time he told USA Today that he’s “not a kingpin” and he wants all of his admirers to know that this bad boy image “is really not me.”
Since then his mother and sister have come forward to absolve his bad boy image from the press. Meeks’ sister spoke to TMZ about her brother and told the site that he’s a married family man who is a practicing Christian for seven years.
Despite Jeremy’s family acting as a makeshift PR team, the Stockton’s Police Department is painting a very different picture that may give Meek’s admirers something to pause about. Joseph Silva told The Associated Press that he’s “one of the most violent criminals in the Stockton area.”
As for the felon’s wife, it doesn’t look like she’s running into Jeremy Meeks’ arms anytime soon. According to a report, she did not attend his arraignment on Friday.
