North West officially celebrated her first birthday last Sunday on Father’s Day with a low-key day out in New York, including a trip to the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. But this weekend North West celebrated in style with a ‘Kidchella’ themed party thrown in aunt Kourtney Kardashian’s backyard.
Speaking about North West’s first birthday, doting mum Kim Kardashian said, “We just had a really low-key birthday — so it’s kind of her birthday week… this weekend we are having a birthday party for her, back in L.A.”
But it wasn’t just an ordinary birthday for North West. No, North West’s first birthday party was loosely themed on the annual Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival and included tee pee huts, a jumping castle, fairy floss, face painting, and a Ferris Wheel!
The Kardashian-Jenner clan was out in full force in their indie festival-themed outfits to celebrate North West’s milestone. They also documented North West’s special day on social media.
North West’s aunts Kylie and Kendall Jenner rocked out on a mini-stage set up with karaoke to Rihanna’s “We Found Love” Kanye West’s “Good Life.” North West’s Grandma Kris and aunt Khloe Kardashian happily posted pictures of North West’s festivities to Instagram through out the day.
Although Uncle Scott Disick was not in attendance, North West had a bevy of celebrity friends by her side to help her celebrate, including Kim Kardashian’s friends Rachel Roy, Lac Chyna and her son King Cairo, and Kylie’s rumored beau Jaden Smith. Dad Kanye also jetted into L.A. in the early hours of Saturday morning to be with beautiful North West.
Of course, North West being the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, her birthday couldn’t pass by without a bit of drama. Khloe Kardashian posted pictures to Instagram of herself in a Native Indian headdress, causing uproar from fans deeming it “disrespectful” to Native American culture.
“I’d love to know why Khloe Kardashian feels entitled to wear a Native American headdress to Kidchella,” one person wrote.
Other Twitter users called out the family for wasting such large amounts of money on a party that North West won’t even remember.
“Mofos throw a #kidchella themed birthday for a 1Yr old that won’t remember it. Meanwhile, they could have donated those millions to charity!” wrote one user.
