Jennifer Lopez says yes! Star signs on as guest judge for X-Factor Australia
Jennifer Lopez has signed on as a guest judge in the sixth season of Australian X Factor starting in July.
With her vocal expertise and judging experience from two seasons on American idol, Jennifer Lopez is set to appear as a guest judge on The X-Factor Australia for three episodes of home visits next month.
Along with mentoring the contestants during the ‘Home Visit’ section of the competition, Jennifer Lopez will also be helping judges Ronan Keating, Dannii Minogue, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Redfoo whittle their teams down from six to three ahead of the live performances.
The signing of Jennifer Lopez is huge for X-Factor Australia, who, in the past, have had guest judges including Beyoncé, Jon Bon Jovi, Kylie Minogue and Alicia Keys, so Jennifer Lopez “is a natural choice,” said a spokesperson for Network Seven.
The strategic timing of Jennifer Lopez’s appearance on X-Factor Australia comes as Jennifer Lopez released her eighth studio album, A.K.A.
Jennifer Lopez became a huge star in the late 90s and early 2000s before seeing her career fade nearly into obscurity. After Jennifer Lopez signed on to work as a judge on American Idol in 2011, her career skyrocketed, catapulting her back into the public eye and making Jennifer Lopez into the $50 million brand that she is today.
Jennifer Lopez debuted the video for her first Top 10 song in seven years, “On the Floor” featuring Pitbull, on American Idol to 25 million viewers, which helped propel her back into stardom.
A.K.A was officially released on June 17th to mixed reviews from Jennifer Lopez’s critics and fans. Only roughly 40,000 copies of the new album have sold, which is far under the 500,000 that makes a gold record. Despite the slow start for Jennifer Lopez’s new record, the singer maintains it’s the strongest representation of her and her life.
