Country songstress Miranda Lambert is dominating the country music charts once again with the recent release of her fifth album, appropriately titled Platinum.
In the special report released on CMT earlier today, the album has hit its second week in the number one spot on the Billboard country music chart. Furthermore, a report from News OK shows that Lambert’s new album has also topped the Billboard 200 chart since its debut a few weeks ago. She is also the only country music artist in the history of Billboard reported to have every single album that she’s released land in the top spot on the ranking engine.
Some of the most notable songs on the record come courtesy of some notable duets. In “Somethin’ Bad,” Miranda teams up with Carrie Underwood while Vince Gill joins her on “All That’s Left.” The western swing band known as The Time Jumpers are also on the Gill/Lambert track, which was written originally by Tom T. Hall.
It looks like Miranda has found the right stride for making number one hits!
Paying homage to her husband’s home state, Miranda covers Oklahoma-born Audra Mae’s classic song “Little Red Wagon” on her record. She is amongst an elite list of crooners to cover a Mae song, joining the likes of Celine Dion and Susan Boyle.
Despite divorce rumors swirling about her and husband Blake Shelton, Miranda seems happy, composed, and healthy. She recently debuted a new, lean, fitter physique and denied rumors that she was jealous of Shelton’s most recent music partnership. This collaboration is between his former teammate on Season 2 of The Voice , Gwen Sebastian , on the track “My Eyes”. According to Sebastian, there is no jealousy from Miranda and no reason for her to worry. Sebastian told Taste of Country :
She loves it. It’s like a big happy family, and even for Blake to ask me to sing on his album is pretty cool, but to have him feature me is amazing.
In fact, Sebastian and Lambert have collaborated together in the past and plan on working together again in the future. Not exactly the type of behavior that is exhibited when jealousy is involved. Furthermore, Gwen Sebastian currently tours frequently with Blake Shelton as a member of vocal team with his live band.
The single “My Eye” is currently hovering in the Top 10 spot and appears to be climbing. Good news all around for the Lambert/Shelton empire.
