Shailene Woodley’s Natural Beauty Tips
Shailene Woodley has been thriving these days – of course, you probably already knew that. Fans globally are tweeting about Shailene’s star-status-gaining work in The Fault in Our Stars, based on John Green’s tearjerking bestseller of the same name, and her appearance in the film adaptation of Veronica Roth’s young-adult novel Divergent. Woodley, 22 years old, is also known for her roles in The Secret Life of the American Teenager and The Descendants. Shailene Woodley’s talent is certainly no secret.
Also not a secret is her incredible beauty. Shailene has gorgeous brown hair and flawless skin. Just how does the award-winning actress accomplish such a glowing and healthy appearance?
Surprisingly, one of Shailene’s many secrets may be chocolate consumption. According to Design & Trend, Woodley says, “I eat chocolate every day. Raw chocolate, hands down, the best gift to human beings.” Keep in mind, however, Woodley eats organic foods only, including clay, and claims to forage for most of her food.
Eating clay, though? Really, Shailene? As it turns out, Woodley isn’t the only one, and it’s actually not an uncommon practice in some parts of the world, especially for pregnant women. Woodley even goes so far as making her own toothpaste from it.
Beyond her diet, Shailene is a huge advocate for oil pulling. Shailene told beauty website Into the Gloss that “it really makes your teeth whiter.” Woodley also stands by natural skincare, even recommending specific organic products:
“On my skin, I keep everything very natural, too. I use Sea Buckthorn from Living Libations to take my makeup off at night and to moisturize my face… They source essential oils and all of their ingredients from small farmers who are treated well…”
“For makeup, I use products from 100% Pure… [They make] my skin feel better, and it comes off so easily… Day-to-day, though, I don’t wear makeup at all.”
Woodley’s biggest tip for skincare, she revealed to People, is laughter. Shailene swears that laughter is the key to living wrinkle-free, and this may even be scientifically supported. The health benefits of laughter are astonishing.
Shailene also chooses to shampoo once monthly. Woodley tells Into the Gloss:
“Hair-wise, I’m very lucky. My mom is 45 and she doesn’t have a single grey hair on her head… I basically have horse hair. It’s so low-maintenance. The less I put in it, the better. When it was long, I used shampoo from Living Libations… I only shampoo it like once a month—the oilier, the better.”
Shailene’s most important tip, though, may be something a little less physical:
“It’s important because I saw someone – that I thought was myself – in a magazine once… but the reality is that I do not have those lips and my skin is not flawless and I do have a little bit of a stomach. It was not a proper representation of who I am. I realized that, growing up and looking at magazines, I was comparing myself to images like that – and most of it isn’t real… I just want to be me.”
While Shailene Woodley’s career rises and her natural beauty and health tips continue to influence her life, we wonder if any of you have tried any of her alternative methods? Let us know whether they have they proven successful.
