Kelly Rowland Expecting, Reunited With Destiny’s Child
Kelly Rowland, 33-year-old singer/actress, has largely stepped out of the spotlight in recent years. That’s not to say she’s completely disappeared from the circuit – though not as far as former Destiny’s Child co-member Michelle Williams. Kelly has still been present in the media, recently judging both The X Factor and its American counterpart. However, it is safe to say that Kelly’s thunder has died down since Destiny’s Child, compared to Beyoncé Knowles’s incredibly successful career. This year, though, Rowland may just be making her big comeback with some even bigger news.
Rowland announced that she is expecting a baby with her new husband Tim Witherspoon via Instagram. On Tuesday, June 10, Kelly posted an adorable photo of daddy-sized Nike Jordans couple with a tiny pair of baby ones. Rowland captioned the photo, “I’ll be stuntin’ like my daddy…..” Excited fans have commented various forms of congratulations, including one particularly beautiful comment by Instagram user mo_bates, which reads, “YASSSSSSSSSSS FINALLY!!!” This will be Rowland’s firstborn. If rumors prove true, Rowland may be taking her child on playdates not only with Blue Ivy, but also a new addition to Knowles family. Kelly’s baby could very well be destiny’s child, every pun intended.
In related news, Rowland has reunited with her partners from the 90’s on Journey to Freedom – Williams’s new gospel album, which is set to release on September 9 – for the uptempo track “Say Yes.” The video for this reunion of late-90s girl power can be seen on GlobalGrind, and it features Kelly, Yoncé/Sasha Fierce/whichever-name-you’d-like-to-call-her, and Michelle all overjoyed to be singing and dancing together again. Reportedly, Beyoncé’s sister Solange Knowles also appeared on the track’s vocals, but she cannot be seen in the video.
Kelly was married to her manager Tim Witherspoon in Costa Rica on May 9. Rowland announced her engagement on The Queen Latifah Show in December of last year. Among Rowland’s guests were Beyoncé and Solange, only a few days after Solange’s now notorious elevator incident with her sister’s husband Jay Z. Sources indicate that Jay did not attend Kelly’s wedding.
Also exciting is Rowland’s new song “The Track,” which is featured on the compilation album Beats of the Beautiful Game, put together by Pepsi for this year’s World Cup, accompanied by a short film directed by Spike Lee.
When asked about all the recent activity and attention she’s been receiving by E! Online, Kelly said, “I’m very happy. I’m very very happy. I’m a very very happy woman.”
There is still a lot of time left in 2014. Will this be the year that brings Kelly Rowland back to the spotlight?
