Eye-Opening Video Shows What The World Is Like In The Mind Of Someone With Autism
Released by the U.K. based National Autistic Society, this eye-opening video attempts shows what it’s like to have autism.
Going through the sensory sensitivity of someone with autism, this video aims to show people just what it looks like to have your touch, vision and hearing go through the typical day of someone that has to deal with these issues on a daily basis.
According to the National Autistic Society, “autism is a life-long developmental disability that affects how we communicate with and relate to others, and it affects how we make sense of the world around us.”
“Lots of things that people take for granted like body-language and metaphors can be confusing and alienating for us,” says a video released by the organization.
“Autism is a spectrum condition, so whilst we all share certain difficulties, our autism will affect us in different ways. Some of us have been to University and hold down jobs, whilst others need a lifetime of specialist support,” they continued.
According to a report released by the Center For Disease Control and Prevention, “the prevalence of autism had risen to 1 in every 68 births in the United States and almost 1 in 54 boys.”
While many are still seeking the cause of autism as the numbers continue to rise, the fact remains that we must continue to bring awareness to and support those effected by it.
This video meant to bring awareness to autism is certainly an interesting look into sensory sensitivity that affect many all over the world, and it will hopefully continue to bring light to the situation.
