Cop Saves Daycare Kids And A Poodle Stuck In A Virginia Flood By Carrying Them [Video]

A police officer named Michael Green is being celebrated for when he helped children in a daycare when the heavy downpouring rain had flooded the facility’s driveway. He even carried a nasty biting poodle!

In a related report by The Inquisitr, when one man used his only spare cash to help an unemployed single mother buy tires for her car he was surprised when others decided to pay it forward when he also had a need of his own.

Chesterfield County police officer Green explained what started the whole event:

“I got dispatched for high waters on East River Road. When I went out there I noticed that there was a parking lot at the daycare center that was filled with water. It was probably a good – up to my knees. I don’t know what’s under that water, if there’s a pothole, if there’s a curb, if they’re going to trip and fall and hurt themselves.”

So Green decided the best course of action would be to carry all of the kids in his arms to the safety of the daycare, carrying them two at a time from the bus where they were all stuck. Green says all he could think about was his own three-year-old son being forced to go to day care with sopping wet shoes and pants:

“I always think about him. Every second of the day. He’s my pride and my joy.”

Shahnazz Jones-Hays, who works at the daycare, told WTVR what happened next:

“It was amazing. He said, ‘Don’t let them cross the street yet’ and he went over and just started picking them up. And they were just smiling – they were so excited.”

What Green did not realize was that someone was recording the entire event on their smartphone. Of course, his job was not done since he still had to respond to the call about the stranded poodle, which was not nearly as grateful as the kids. The feisty little animal managed to bring the cop to his knees, biting Green multiple times on his hands and fingers. He ever had to get stitches for his injuries, but the police officer just shrugged it off as being “all in a day’s work.”
