Mary Steenburgen Joins The Cast Of ‘Orange Is The New Black’
It looks like Mary Steenburgen is going to prison… well, that is just one scenario ahead of her now that she’s been added to the cast of the hit show, Orange is the New Black.
Seriously, Mary Steenburgen playing a role centered around crime just sounds a little off for those who followed her career. Many people around the 90s remember her making Doc Brown’s heart flutter in Back to the Future: Part III, but she’s been in some serious films such as Goin’ South and Dead of Winter, in which both took a more serious tone. It’s just that Mary Steenburgen hasn’t, well generally speaking, played a role in prison. However, her specific part is not revealed, so it could be something like “prison doctor” or “warden’s wife” or something like that.
As revealed in an article by Entertainment Weekly, Mary Steenburgen will appear in the third season of Orange is the New Black. She also broke the news to her fans on her official Twitter account, although the tweet has since been taken down. However, the tweet did say the following, on June 12, 2014:
“Very excited to go to my first wardrobe fitting of OITNB! Will I be in orange or black? :)”
Mary Steenburgen already joins an impressive cast on the hit Netflix series which includes Taylor Schilling, Jason Biggs, Natasha Lyonne, and Kate Mulgew. Also, there are rumors that Lauroa Prepon will return Orange is the New Black in the third season as an inmate again.
Examiner actually had a bit more information on Mary Steenburgen prior to her new role on the upcoming season of Orange is the New Black. She is married to actor Ted Danson, who is famous for his role on Cheers, and has starred in television series Justified. She also has notable roles in Wilfred, Curb Your Enthusiam, and 30 Rock. On another professional direction, she has also signed on with Universal Music. Finally, on a personal note, Mary Steenburgen has said she loves playing horrible and mean characters, as reported here on The Inquisitr.
Maybe Mary Steenburgen will get to act as someone she loves when the third season of Orange is the New Black comes around next television season.
