More than two decades ago, Frank Miller created a neo-noir graphic novel series that went beyond anything of the norm. That series was known as “Sin City”, and the second volume in it was “A Dame to Kill For”. Now twenty-five years later, the second volume in the Sin City Series is bringing its stylized black and white presentation with specified colored details to the silver screen. And just in time for summer, the second trailer for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For , or to most just Sin City 2 , has been released.
From information given from the Sin City 2 official website , many alumni actors from the original film will reprise their characters. This includes Jessica Alba as Nancy Callahan and Mickey Rourke as Marv. There will also be some new faces in the upcoming film including Josh Brolin replacing Clive Owen as Dwight, Joseph Gordon Levitt as Johnny (an original character just for Sin City 2 ), and Eva Green bringing to life one of the most popular females in the Sin City series, Ava Lord. From the trailer above, Powers Boothe returns as Senator Roark, Rosario Dawson returns as Gail, and Bruce Willis returns as John Hartigan. Robert Rodriguez and the creator of the Sin City graphic novel series, Frank Miller, are co-directors.
Simply by the movie’s title, it is evident that the second book will be the central story. There will be other stories that will be told in this movie, similar to the format the original Sin City had back in 2005. Confirmed by numerous other movie sites through specific casting news from Deadline Hollywood , “Just Another Saturday Night” is about what happens to Marv after Hartigan and Nancy leave the Kadie’s Bar from the events of “That Yellow Bastard”. “The Long Bad Night” is an original story centered on Johnny. Finally, “The Fat Loss” is centered on Nancy after she finds out Hartigan commits suicide.
Just from the hype this trailer is getting, along with the first full-length trailer , which was reported here on The Inquisitr , it looks like Sin City 2 is going to deliver just like the first film. It is also good this film is finally coming to theaters since it is marred with so much unfortunate events. First, certain scenes had to be re-directed after Brittany Murphy’s passing. Afterwards, all the scenes of Manute had to be re-directed because the character’s original actor, Michael Clarke Duncan, passed on too. The vacated role was filled by Dennis Haysbert.
Now after years of issues, Sin City 2 will finally release at the box office. Personally, the presentation of the trailer was phenomenal, but the aggressive music chosen for it is what got my blood going as I sat on the edge of my seat wondering what would come next. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For releases on August 22, 2014.
