Iggy Azalea Thinks Lorde Is A Really ‘Awesome Chick’
Iggy Azalea is apparently suffering from a wicked case of FIMS, otherwise known as Foot in Mouth Syndrome. It tends to affect celebrities at one point or another.
The Australian rapper, who some folks believe is a modern-day Vanilla Ice, recently kicked up a relatively small cloud of controversy when she took issue with Lorde’s rendition of Nirvana’s “All Apologies” during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April. Although Azalea certainly isn’t in any position to throw stones these days, this didn’t stop her from taking a shot at the New Zealand songstress.
“Nothing against her, but I think when you’re doing a tribute to someone that’s dead, generally it should be the person’s peer. Lorde is not Kurt Cobain’s peer. No matter if she killed the performance or not, I just don’t think it’s appropriate,” Azalea explained.
It didn’t take long for that statement to make headlines.
According to Perez Hilton, Iggy Azalea recently attempted to do a little damage control in the wake of the backlash. Although the rapper said she never meant to slight Lorde with her critique of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performance, it’s easy to understand why a few people may have taken it the wrong way. As usual, Azalea attempted to clarify the comments with a handful of 140-character posts on Twitter.
I consider lorde my very talented friend. I find it ironic 2 girls tell the media theyre full of shit & weeks later supposedly I dislike her

Although she criticizes the media for blowing things out of proportion, Iggy apparently realized she may have come across a bit nasty in regards to Lorde’s Nirvana cover.
My opinion on the makings of a touching musical tribute wasn’t meant as some back door way to take a dig at her or the performance she gave.

sorry if it came across that way, it’s not what I intended & I feel genuinely bad about it because I still think lorde is an awesome chick.

And I just don’t want to world thinking I don’t support the girls, because I do! Anyway I’m off to paint my kitchen! Lots of love.

Considering the mountains of criticism Iggy Azalea receives on a regular basis these days, it definitely seems a little odd for her to take issue with anything her fellows musicians do at the moment. When you’re as embattled as Iggy, sometimes it’s best to approach every situation with extreme caution.
