Dead Island 2 PS4 exclusive content has been teased in a new trailer from E3 2014. The zombie game that redefined the genre is about to get a next generation sequel.
A few years ago, the zombie genre was at its peak, but at the same time all of the games about them were the same. Resident Evil had stopped being about zombies after the third game, Dead Rising hadn’t had a new game in a while (this was before the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One), and Left 4 Dead was the most fun we had available. Then we were hit with a game which took the zombie apocalypse and put survival back into it with a storyline about being marooned on a vacation island gone very wrong, and the need to craft weapons in our efforts to put the undead down.
Dead Island: Riptide came along and attempted to add to the story, but it wasn’t enough to make us care for long. The E3 2014 announcement of the Dead Island 2 PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions looks to give us an actual sequel this time with new hardware to scare us all over again. Instead of the Australian island of Banoi, this time the game will be set in San Francisco, possibly taking on GTA 5 for open world gameplay.

The trailer for the sequel to Dead Island might look simple enough with a bodybuilder model going out for a jog after covering an infection with a wristband. As he jogs we see some chaos ensue right behind him until eventually the heroes come along and take him out with a mace, after the infection has taken over.
While the trailer doesn’t really give any details about Dead Island 2 ‘s PS4 exclusive content, a press release from Deep Silver states:
“Several months after the events on Banoi, the United States military has put the Golden State under full quarantine. Now a restricted zone, California has become a bloody paradise for those who refuse to leave their homes and an action-packed playground for renegades who seek adventure, glory and a fresh start. Combining the classic Dead Island elements of immersive close combat, action and role-playing, Dead Island 2 features crazy, never-before-seen handcrafted weapons and over-the-top characters in taking players from the iconic Golden Gate to the celebrated beachfront boardwalk of southern California?’s Venice Beach.”
We might see helicopter and limo wrecks this time around, possibly investigating them to find the cause of the second outbreak, or watching them happen around us. We might even loot dead bodies for clothes this time, though that sounds a little disgusting. We might also see a wider variety of weapons.
