Impeach President Obama over Bowe Bergdahl?

That’s the proper step following the controversial Bowe Bergdahl prisoner swap, according to Judge Jeanine Pirro.

The Fox News legal analyst, a former judge, prosecutor and Republican congressional hopeful previously called for impeachment over the Benghazi terrorist attack and alleged coverup.

The outspoken Pirro reached this conclusion in yet another fiery “opening statement” on her Fox News Channel show, Justice with Judge Jeanine. In her presentation, Pirro claimed that when any president violates his sacred trust with America, “the people from whom he derives his power have the inalienable right to remove him.”

Controversy has engulfed President Obama’s decision to trade five Taliban members detained at Guantanamo Bay in exchange for Sgt. Bergdahl, whose Afghanistan eyewitness platoon mates have accused of being a deserter. Moreover, Obama authorized the transfer without giving Congress 30-days notice as required by federal law.

Pirro slammed the shifting narrative from Team Obama about the circumstances surrounding the Bergdahl release and also joined the chorus assailing National Security Advisor Susan Rice for claiming on national TV that Bowe Bergdahl served with honor and distinction.

As a presidential candidate, Obama vowed to close Gitmo, but has been unable to do so, in part, because of congressional opposition, including from his fellow Democrats. Despite the latest controversy, the Obama administration is, nonetheless, allegedly set to release more detainees for, according to the New York Post, “the flimsiest of excuses… One al Qaeda suspect, captured in Afghanistan, is considered reformed because he took up yoga and read a biography of the Dalai Lama.”

Because info is secret, there is a lack of consensus about the recidivism rate among released Gitmo terrorist detainees, with some suggesting the return-to-the battlefield rate is as high as 30 percent while others claim it is only about 9 percent.

Declared Pirro:

“…Could it be, Mr. President, he was your excuse to release five Taliban terrorists from Gitmo? Those five men, the worst of the worst. Some wanted by the UN for mass murders, killing thousands, al Qaeda-connected, these are the guys who behead their enemies, including children. They hate America and everything we stand for. And you release them — knowing many return to the battlefield — because Arab country Qatar assured you that they do not pose a threat to us? And you’re good with that? You buy it? You think 12 years in Gitmo has softened their resolve to kill us? Mr. President, you didn’t just release them, you unleashed them, and you and you alone will be responsible for the hell that will be unleashed on us. You have teed us up for death and destruction …”

Pirro continued addressing the president:

“… Here’s the bottom line: you negotiated with terrorists. You broke the very law that you signed. You have shown terrorists that they can win concessions by kidnapping Americans. In the history of this country we have never traded mass murderers for a deserter…”

Summing up, Jeanine Pirro concluded that it is now time to impeach Obama:

Mr. President: you are destroying this country. You have diminished us on the world stage. You have trampled on the very laws you swore to uphold. You are not a true commander-in-chief. We’ve impeached a president for lying about sex with an intern. Your actions, far more egregious, demand impeachment.”

Former Congressman and Iraq War vet Allen West has also thrown his support behind potential efforts to impeach Obama on grounds of what he considers high crimes and misdemeanors under the US Constitution, as well as aiding and abetting the enemy. On the opposite side of the political spectrum, Ralph Nader has also called for Obama’s impeachment. Nader has insisted that bombing Libya without a Congressional declaration of war is an impeachable offense.

According to the Boston Herald, apart from impeachment chatter, this latest controversy has implications for the November US House and Senate election:

“Add Bergdahl to the list of scandals that already had Democrats distancing themselves [from Obama] ahead of the fall’s midterm election, in which they fear losing the Senate. Obamacare topped that list even before news emerged yesterday that as many as 2 million enrollments are suspect. But there are so many others. The Veterans Administration, the IRS targeting of conservatives, the Fast and Furious guns-for-drug-gangs program, NSA spying, and the many, many foreign policy failures, from Libya, to Egypt, to Syria and the Ukraine.”
