Whitney Houston Home Sold For $1.2 Million Less Than She Paid For It

Whitney Houston’s former home has been sold finally for $1.5 million – which is $1.2 million less that she paid for it in 1987.

The house has been on and off the market since Houston’s controversial death in 2012 at the age of 48. Initially, since her body was found in a bathtub, the verdict was accidental death by drowning. Subsequently, it was learned that, apart from her long standing heart condition, her body contained traces of cocaine, Benadryl, Xanax, marijuana, and Flexeril.

Following Whitney’s sudden and tragic death, her family did what many families do in similar situations – they fought over the probate of her approximately $20 million estate. The house was actually bought by an investment company less than six months ago for a fraction under $1 million.

The new buyer is Dr. Matthew Krauthamer, a 33-year-old emergency room physician. He has reaped the benefit of being at the end of the line, as the price of the property has slowly tumbled over the years.

The 13,607-square-foot home has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and is situated on 5 acres of land. It has curved walls of windows, a huge swimming pool, two Jacuzzis, and a tennis court among its many amenities.

Although the decision to buy was strictly commercial, Krauthamer professes to be a long time fan of Whitney Houston, and says he grew up admiring her music.

Houston created the mansion in 1987, and got married to Bobby Brown there in 1992. The marriage lasted 15 years – which is amazing by normal Hollywood standards. Unfortunately, Whitney’s years after the divorce saw both a dip in her career, and a descent into substance abuse.

Krauthamer said he watched as she struggled with her many problems: “She got, obviously, some bad press at times, but one thing that she was a very kind and generous person. She took care of the people that were closest to her and that’s something that’s always stuck in my mind.”

So, apart from the songs that will always be associated with Whitney Houston, there is now a further legacy. With all respect to Dr. Krauthamer, his new home will probably always be referred to as the former home of Whitney Houston.

And, as he’s such a fan, he should be very happy with that.
