Dina Lohan Sentenced To 100 Hours For DUI: ‘I Just Want To Put This Behind Me’

Dina Lohan, mom of famous actress Lindsay Lohan, received a serious dressing down from a Nassau County District Judge when he sentenced her to serve 100 hours of community service, as well as losing her driver’s license for a year.

Lohan was caught speeding by police in Long Island last September with an excess of alcohol in her system. Not only was she caught driving more than 20 mph above the limit, but she also had twice the legal limit of booze in her bloodstream.

On top of those two punishments, Dina Lohan was also ordered to pay more than $3000 in fines by Judge Andrew Engel, who also told Lohan to take part in a drinking driver program. Outside the courthouse, Dina Lohan told reporters: “I just want to put this behind me.

Lohan’s lawyer, Mark Heller, seems to be pleased with the sentence handed down to his client, saying that Lohan’s DUI was a “one-time, isolated event that took place on the occasion of her birthday celebration.”

In a statement to ABC News Heller said:

“In spite of the fact that the District Court of Nassau County dispenses the sternest DWI Sentences in America, which traditionally provides for a period of incarceration and three years of Probation, Dina Lohan’s Sentence did not provide for any period of incarceration or probation, in light of Dina Lohan’s exemplary record with no prior arrest history and in deference to the Nassau County Screening Evaluation of Ms. Lohan which concluded that she has no alcohol or substance abuse issues.

Clearly, it was recognized that Dina Lohan has been a life-long resident of Nassau County, a good and loving parent to four children and the arrest was borne out of an isolated act of indiscretion on the occasion of her 50th Birthday. Dina Lohan is happy to put this unfortunate event behind her.”

Hopefully, Dina Lohan, and her daughter, Lindsay, will take more care not to drive over the speed limit in future – and certainly not when drunk.
